About us

Some of the most valuable insight about a place is also the hardest to find. Since 2017, CHAOS has been bringing it together so anyone who shapes a place can understand it, from the people who live there to what it could become.

What we do

Our story

Why are we called CHAOS?

It started with questions that was hard to answer

Some of the most valuable insight about a place is also the hardest to find. When CHAOS started in Helsinki in 2017, the data that could explain a location already existed. It was scattered across registries, maps, listings and statistics that were never built to talk to each other.

So we started putting it together. What began as a small idea is now a platform used by developers, rental operators, retailers, investors and cities across Finland and the Nordics.

Our promise hasn't changed since day one. Find the potential in places, and make location data accessible to everyone but most importantly, untangling the complications behind it and make it truly useful for anyone.

Accessible location data for all

Every place holds a story. Who lives there, how it is changing, what it could become. Most of that story is already written in data, but in a language few people can read. We think understanding a place shouldn't take a team of analysts or weeks of digging. It should be open to everyone who shapes how places grow.

Location data is not just a business tool. The same data that helps a company choose its next site can help a city decide where the next school, health centre or bus line should go. Housing affordability, ageing populations, sustainability and disappearing local services all have a location at their core. That's why we build CHAOS for everyone who shapes places, from businesses to governments, municipalities and researchers. Better location data leads to better decisions. Better decisions lead to better cities and better societies.

Property, rent, demographic and market data already exists. It's just scattered across systems, hard to access and even harder to interpret. CHAOS brings it together in one platform and makes it usable with AI. It's the complete data foundation for anyone whose work depends on location.

The data comes from sources like the National Land Survey, Statistics Finland, municipal zoning portals, rent listings and the sales price registry. We clean it, connect it and keep it current. You just use it.

Our customers use CHAOS for the whole range of location work, from quick daily checks to large research projects. Rental operators price units with Rent Navigator and keep an eye on their portfolio. Developers search plots by zoning, ownership and past transactions across Finland. Retailers compare footfall, demographics and competition before they commit to a site. Planners and investors explore services, reachability and how an area's population is changing.

But CHAOS is more than a tool. It's a partner on your side, giving you the confidence to make the right call on every location.

The name comes from chaos theory. It's the idea that in a complex system, a small change in one place can lead to a big change somewhere else. You may know it as the butterfly effect.

Cities work the same way. Housing, services, transport and the people who live there are all connected. A new tram line, a rezoned plot or a shift in who moves into a neighbourhood can reshape the bigger picture over time.

CHAOS exists to make those connections visible, so the people who shape places can see what their decisions set in motion.

MEETING THE CO-FOUNDERS

Natalia Rincón-Eriksson Co-founder & CEO

Bold. Visionary. Purpose-driven.

Natalia is an architect, computer scientist, and entrepreneur driven by the belief that technology and design can—and must—reshape the way we live in cities. As Founder and CEO of CHAOS, she leads a mission to transform urban decision-making through data, empathy, and innovation—building cities that are not only smart, but human-centered, equitable, and sustainable.

Her journey has taken her across continents, from international architecture studios to serving on a municipal council in Finland, giving her a global perspective on how societies are built, governed, and evolved. Along the way, she has learned that leadership is not just about strategy—it's about vision, conviction, and the ability to inspire action.

Valedictorian by training, speaker by passion, and systems thinker at heart, she brings together the analytical rigor of computer science with the creativity of architecture. Her work is deeply influenced by the mission-oriented approach of thinkers like Mariana Mazzucato, believing that bold goals, guided by shared purpose, can drive innovation that benefits all.

As CHAOS grows internationally, her focus is on scaling impact—empowering governments, organizations, and citizens to make better, data-informed decisions for the future we all share. She is here to build bridges between technology, policy, and people—because the future of cities is not just about progress, but about purpose.
